The inner kitchen at Wollaton Hall as it may have looked shortly after construction at the end of the 16th century.  Pies being baked in the small ovens on the far left.  Pots suspended over the open fire by rackens or rackentines (as they were known locally), allowing them to be moved closer to or further from the heat.(Picture ┬ęPeter Brears)
